      Emirates Islamic reported a net profit of Dh137 million for the first half of 2016. The bank reported a net profit of Dh92 million for 2nd quarter. Total income grew by 11% from the previous year for the same period. Total assets were up by 8% from 2015 end. Financing and investing receivable were up by 14.5% from the previous year. The credit quality of the bank improved as the impaired financing ratio strengthened to 8.5% from 8.8% last year and coverage ratio advanced to 90.7% from 89.5% last year.

    • Emirates Islamic Bank launches new index for Islamic banking

      Emirates Islamic Bank has launched a new index that has been designed to understand the market position of Islamic banking and how people perceive it. This first time endeavour works off 4 key points, penetration, perception, knowledge, and intention with the aim being to understand the customer's needs from Islamic banking and finding ways to improve its popularity. To this end the bank conducted a survey of 900 people across the UAE and the results were interest. 50% of the people knew about Islamic banking either because they had used it or heard about it.
